For our last backpacking trip to Langkawi, we decided to go a little something different from our last trip- staying in the dorms at Gecko Guest house. Don’t get us wrong, Gecko was excellent with their friendly backpacker atmosphere and all, but we decided to splurge a little and have ourselves a beach front chalet instead this time. The idea of waking up to the clear turquoise water and skies some how seemed so appealing after coming back from our trip from Koh Lipe. We didnt want to have “beautiful sea and beach” syndrome. You know after a week in heaven @ Koh Lipe. It makes you not want to leave Paradise.
So after reading all the reviews on the hotels along Cenang. (We still chose Cenang beach, due to the convenience of having plenty of shops and eateries till late at night). we decided to bunk in at Melati Tanjung Motel. Here are our pictures and comments
Melati Tanjung Motel- Fantastic Hospitality with a great beach view
It was nice that the place was run by a very nice Malay family. They were most helpful.

simple reception area, but you dont really hang out here because each room has its own porch

The rooms were most importantly clean and new.
Double bed thats really comfortable
This is how the quad room looks like. (Take note, that the fan is not supposed to be there)
The LCD TV only showed the local channels. Pity tho. It would have been lovely to kick back, with a pack of ice cool beers and watch the evening Match between Manchester United and Arsenal.
Ensuite toilet and shower
The toilets were clean! And the water power was powerful enough ! 😀
(not like those cheap hotels where the water was worse than a person peeing)
Frontage of the motel- the rooms are facing one of the nicest beaches in Langkawi
The beach view is fantastic! Fresh breeze and plenty of activity on the beach! The beach has plenty of water sports and is great for swims, dips, sun tanning and water sports.

Just beside the motel is the best pub/bar in Langkawi- Babylon! Dont worry, they wont be too noisy. They only play reggae music! (it’s a great place to hang out at night)! Triple plus points for Melati Tanjung Motel!
