Breakfasts around the world while backpacking- by backpackies

As you travel and backpack around the globe, you will soon learn that breakfast is not having it at a ‘FAST FOOD’ joint!
Rather it is more about being more adventurous and heading out to find and eat what the locals have for breakfast.
Here is a list of what some people in their country eat. 🙂

Are you dreaming about the Mc Donalds breakfast in your sleep??

A full English Breakfast – it must have beans, sausages, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, hash browns and toast. Of course, it should all be knocked back with a cup of tea, but black pudding is optional as far as I’m concerned.

Breakfast in Iran – it usually features some sort of naan bread with butter and jam. When a light breakfast just isn’t going to hit the spot Iranians eat halim. Halim is a mixture of wheat, cinnamon, butter and sugar cooked with shredded meat in huge pots. You can eat it hot or cold. You can also see the Iranian version of an omelet here too.

A Cuban wake up meal – usually consists of sweetened coffee with milk with a pinch of salt thrown in. The unique Cuban bread is toasted and buttered and cut into lengths to dunk in the coffee.

Polish Breakfast – known locally as Jajecznica, a traditional Polish breakfast consists of scrambled eggs covered with slices of custom- made kielbasa and joined by two potato pancakes.

Quick Spanish breakfast – Pan a la Catalana, or Pan con Tomate, in Spain is simple but really delicious. Just rub some bread with fresh garlic and plenty of ripe tomato, then drizzle with olive oil and salt. Top with cheese, ham or sausage for an extra bit.

A yummy Moroccan breakfast – usually consists of different breads with some chutney, jam, cheese or butter. They have a really delicious crumpet-style bread which they make in huge slabs for you to tear a bit off, and a semolina pancake bread called Baghir – both are really tasty.

A healthy Hawaiian breakfast – I couldn’t imagine Hawaiians eating anything but fruit to be honest. Of course, there’s the bagel but I’m sure they’d burn the energy from that off in a few minutes on their surf board anyway.

Nope! Sweedish people do not eat Sweedish meatballs for breakfast!

Swedish breakfast – often involves a Swedish pancake, known as a Pannkakor. It’s a thin flat cake made from batter and fried on both sides – much like a crepe. It’s usually served with a sweet, fruity filling.

Icelandic breakfast cuisine – a hearty and hot breakfast to fight off the dark, icy mornings is what’s needed here. Hafragrautur, or oatmeal, is served with a sprinkle of brown sugar with a few raisins or nuts on top, perfect.

Breakfast in Portugal – a delicious and simple affair with stuffed croissants and plenty of coffee served in the sun.

Air Asia – Surviving Long Hauls on a Budget Airlines

Welcoming The New Age of Budget Traveling. Now Everyone Can Fly!!! Go to www.airasia.com

Air Asia Free Seats

Nowadays there is a new ruling that you can't take pictures on the tarmac.

I was pretty excited and decided to *hand write* a letter to the captain, before take off.

My letter to the captain

Air Asia Free Seats

Is he big or are the seats space small? 90 degree seats! WOaaaahhh LOOK AT HOW CLOSE THE KNEE IS TO THE SEAT IN FRONT. I can't even fit my girlfriends leg in..if she wanted to! DAMN!

Few years back, we used to rush to the seats near the emergency exits which had huge amounts of leg room. But ever since they started issuing seat numbers, there’s no need for the rush. All the seats are the same, unless you pay more and get the hot seats which offer a little bit more leg room.

Hot Seats are marked red- comes with more leg room

To be comfortable, you can always purchase a comfort kit, if you didn’t bring your own pillow or eye mask along. Here is what you will get

air asia free seats

Comfort kit comes with a thin synthetic blanket, eye mask, and a neck pillow COSTS RM 35 (~10 USD), Please take it home after you arrive at your destination. If not i will take it for you.

It isn’t much comfort. If you have a jacket, you can roll it up and use it as a head pillow. Does the same job. Just be warned that it can get pretty cold in the plane on long journeys.

Of course, eating is also another way to ease your dis comfort. If you are sure of this method, then we suggest you pre book your meals when you purchase your flight tickets. It is 20% cheaper than buying it on the plane.

Nasi Lemak Pak Nassir is pretty good

The chicken lasagna was pretty awesome as well (if they still serve them) **** Recommended

Yummy hot lasagna

After filling our tummies. We looked around…to see if there are any empty seats. After take off, you are allowed to shift seats. Look for any space with at least 2 empty seats. The hand rest can be lifted up, so that you can at least sit and stretch your body diagonally. Beats sitting 90 degrees vertical or even 70 degrees after incline.

Since the seats are so f**kin small, and had like 5 hours of flight time. We knew what we had to do.

KNOCK OUR SELVES OUT!

Chivas + Coke + Air Asia = Hallelujah

If you are going to do what we are doing, make sure your alcohol is stored in a ~ 100 ml bottle. Maybe a clear bottle with vodka or bicardi? And say its mouth wash 😀

Happy traveling. And if you do see a crazy guy with a straw hat drinking happily on any Air Asia flight, that isn’t me.

Baskin Robbins Hand Packed Ice Cream -31st of Every Month- Guide to Eating and Not Paying!

Disclaimer: Ok this is purely just one of my *cheeky* thoughts. I did not actually do it. (yet) Just thought one of you might, after reading this  😀

If you don’t already know, every 31st of any month, Baskin Robbins has 31% discounts off their hand packed ice creams.

By the way: (Baskin Robbins is proud to boast that they have  31 different flavors )

So on this day, the ice cream might be cheaper than usual. This explains the exceptionally long queues at any Baskin Robbin outlets. *Of course, then the shop goes empty for the next 30 days (due to kiasu Asians, buying up all the ice cream with the excuse *ya…my ah ma also got eat ice cream one ma*.

My favorite ice cream from Baskin Robbins has gotta be anything chocolatey! Here are my two favorites.

My favourites. Pity they don't have a picture of "Maui Brownie Madness"-- Yumsss just thinking about it *Low fat too* my gf tells me

31% discount for hand pack ice creams @ Baskin Robbins every 31st of the month

Long queue that uses a "paper number system" to track who's turn it is

Take your time to choose what you want. Here at Baskin Robbins, you can simply ask to try every single type of flavor and just leave after you are full, if you want too

Extra staff hired to cope with the mass of hungry ice cream crowd

I noticed that the employer of this outlet used a very useful and effective tactic. He hired a lot of girls with big boobs. As you can see from the picture, these girls obviously, have plenty of ice cream on their bodies.(ALL OF THEM)!  I think it’s a seductive trick. No wonder the guys are all standing in front wanting to taste ice cream. *pretenders you know who you are*

Pick your choose, which size you want?! Those who are ordering the biggest pack (called the VALUE CUT ) does not need to queue. Just go straight to the counter.

OK here is the game plan. To eat free ice cream.

  1. Remember its your right to taste any ice cream you want. Unfortunately they come in small pink scoops. So I guess you just need to taste more.
  2. Pay Attention: You need to look confident ok.
  • First you take your number and wait to be called.
  • Then you pretend to taste all the ice cream, and tell the girls what you want.
  • Then she will ask you to pay.
  • You pretend to talk to your friend or on your handphone, and go to the toilet.
  • Wait for about 10 minutes, and she will call you to collect your ice cream.
  • Collect it, and just walk out.

We havent tried this. But we are very sure it will work. Please let me know if my genius plan works. 😀

DONT BE SELFISH, IF YOU GOT A EVIL THOUGHT OR PLAN LIKE MINE, PLEASE SHARE!

Happy Ice Cream Day!
